Spring is here in all her wonderous glory Mother Nature is awakening the earth. This is a great time for Pagan Parenting, it's all so easy as everything is being handed to you on a plate. As I have previously said I'm not one for "teaching" my daughter about religion or faith as I think she's still too young. But at this time of year we do get to share the beauty of the earth together, in a non-threatening, non-indoctrinating way.

My daughter is fascinated by the trees budding and how magical it sems that one day they are asleep and the next day they are stretching their leaves ready to find the sun. In the last week we have had four encounters with geckos, two of which were just hanging out on her playscape. They made her so excited she had to rush in and drag her Daddy and I outside so we could watch them in awe too. It gave us a chance to explain to her about how in nature everything serves it's purpose.

Then just this morning as we were waiting for her bus to arrive she stopped me short of the bus stop so that we could watch the prettiest little sparrow in the field beside us. We quietly giggled as the sparrow seemed to nibble on the plants at the edge of the field. It made me feel good that she had enough respect to let the little guy continue with his feeding instead of just blowing off a very beautiful sight first thing in the morning.

So now is the time to show your child the beauty of the world around us. Leave for the school bus a few minutes early so you can saunter to the bus stop and see how many new flowers have popped up overnight, have a look into the trees and see how many buds are opening up, get them to put their hand on the tree's trunk so they can feel it's energy and to thank it for all the good it does for us.

Pagan parenting isn't hard, it's just a case of instilling respect for nature in our children who are constantly bombarded by commercials and a "I want it NOW!" society. Teach them that everything has its cycle and its own timeline whether or not T.V. and society tells them they should have it all now.

Enjoy this season and its beauty and enjoy the wonder it can instill in your little person too.
